Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate within an Integrated Development Team dedicated to the advancement and delivery of submarine systems and capabilities.
  • Ensure the completion of Product Safety tasks and activities across various systems, supporting project milestones throughout all phases of Engineering Life Cycle Management.
  • Contribute to Hazard Identification and Analysis studies.
  • Assist in the creation or review of safety reports.
  • Guarantee that the Integrated Development Team adheres to the project Safety Management System.
  • Coordinate with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team.

Required Skills and Experience:


  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum predicted classification of 2:2, or relevant work experience coupled with a commitment to obtaining a degree.
  • Familiarity with 'Safety and Systems Engineering' principles and 'Engineering Life Cycle Management'.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting while also being capable of independent task execution.
  • Agility in adapting to evolving working practices and customer expectations.
  • Self-driven with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Practical experience in Product Safety Engineering within the maritime defense sector is advantageous, though experience from other sectors will be considered.

About the Safety & Environmental Team:


This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into submarine operations and the Royal Navy's management of these vessels. As a Lead Compliance Engineer, you will support System Engineers in shaping submarine systems and capability development. You will deepen your understanding of submarine systems and their interactions, ensuring that Product Safety is appropriately integrated.


This position allows involvement in all facets of safety management and safety case delivery, including safety requirements capture, hazard identification and analysis, hazard data management, application of the ALARP principle, and the creation and maintenance of safety documentation. This role provides a comprehensive overview of complex systems, specifically submarines.
