Position: Above Water Systems Operability Engineer

Location: Various locations with flexible working arrangements available. Compensation: Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to the Integrated Combat Systems Capability Lead and Operability Lead, aligned with the program's risk and complexity.
  • Develop innovative and forward-thinking solutions while reviewing deliverables to ensure rigorous application of assumptions, methodologies, and reporting of results.
  • Support Technical Authorities and Engineering teams in the creation and documentation of technical materials.
  • Review outputs such as presentations and reports to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for the target audience.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts across teams and organizational boundaries.
  • Work with suppliers to evaluate all forms of operability, which may require travel to supplier locations.
  • Maintain awareness of current and future demand requirements.
  • Implement company policies and processes, ensuring adherence to the Management System.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge of current Royal Navy Submarine Combat Systems, particularly above water sensors.
  • Technical and operational proficiency in Royal Navy Submarine Combat Systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of submarine operations.
  • Able to cultivate networks to effectively address issues and challenges.

Desirable:

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM field (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Science) or Human Factors.
  • Experience in astute class operations.

About the Engineering Delivery Team:

The Engineering Delivery Team operates across multiple locations and is responsible for the design, delivery, and operability of the Combat System. The team is structured into sub-system engineering design teams, each led by a Sub-System Technical Lead. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Above Water Surveillance sub-system team and the Capability and Operability Leads.
