Position: Lead Systems Engineer

Compensation: Up to £48,000 based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Training Systems equipment, network architecture, and software solutions, focusing on performance predictions and installation designs that align with customer specifications and budget constraints.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge and experience in Systems Engineering to create and implement solutions, addressing engineering challenges for Training Systems products.
  • Apply the principles of ISO 15288 throughout the entire engineering lifecycle for system design and construction.
  • Analyze and break down stakeholder requirements to system and sub-system levels, managing these using approved tools such as IBM DOORS Next.
  • Conduct system design decomposition and architectural modeling down to sub-system levels, including defining internal and external interfaces, while managing models in tools like CATIA Magic (Cameo).
  • Generate and maintain system design documentation that accurately reflects the deployed Training Systems.
  • Collaborate with Training Systems and subcontractor stakeholders to produce procurement specifications, ensuring compliance with delivered products and services.
  • Establish and execute system integration and testing plans.
  • Develop acceptance strategies in coordination with the System Design Authority to verify compliance with requirements at various system design levels, aiding in the production of customer acceptance documentation.
  • Conduct technical reviews and verify engineering design, documentation, and service delivery practices, ensuring adherence to business, legislative, and customer standards.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting ITAR and EAR item statuses.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and methodologies that support design and development, with the ability to apply holistic approaches to complex issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Systems Engineering, including familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., ISO).
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities in both creative product design and analytical performance assessment.
  • Experience in system integration, testing, and acceptance processes.
  • Proficient in requirements management (e.g., IBM DOORS Next) and configuration management practices.
  • Experience with large-scale complex system designs.
  • Familiarity with multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle and knowledge of lifecycle models (e.g., Waterfall, Agile) and associated tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Ability to present both technical and non-technical information effectively in formal settings.
  • Good level of IT proficiency.
  • Higher education or equivalent experience in a relevant STEM discipline.

About the Modelling & Simulation Team:

You will be part of the Simulation & Training Group, which provides high-fidelity simulations of various platforms, weapons, and sensors, enabling the recreation of complex Naval formations for Under Water Battlespace and Future Air Dominance.
