Job Summary:

The Compliance Officer role is a vital position within our organization, supporting our Insurance Group in meeting its regulatory requirements, internal policies, and procedures. This role is an additional support to the Compliance Manager, ensuring the company's compliance with laws and regulations.

About the Role:

As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting our rapidly growing Insurance Client, providing underwriting and claims services. This role involves working on a hybrid basis, balancing between working from home and in the office. There may be occasional travel to other offices in the UK and overseas.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Risk Management: Identify, monitor, and mitigate compliance and data protection risks across the business.
  • Compliance Monitoring Reviews: Conduct reviews in accordance with the annual compliance monitoring programme.
  • Audits and Risk Assessments: Perform audits and risk assessments to help the business understand compliance risk, scope, and significance.
  • Breach and Incident Review: Review and provide feedback to the business on breaches and incidents.
  • Policy Maintenance: Support the review, maintenance, and organization of related compliance policies, ensuring they are up to date with relevant laws.
  • Culture of Compliance: Collaborate with stakeholders to create a culture of compliance.
  • Compliance Advice: Provide real-time compliance advice on rules, regulations, and internal policies governing the business.
  • Management Information: Prepare compliance-related management information for senior management.
  • Business Reviews: Undertake business reviews to determine compliance with data protection regulations, data security, and other related areas, recommending process improvements.
  • Document Drafting: Draft and review data protection-related documents and contracts, as required.
  • Employee Training: Provide knowledge and understanding to train, coach, and support employees on data protection compliance requirements, where required.

Requirements:

  • Compliance Experience: Compliance experience within the Insurance or Financial Services Industry.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Good understanding of relevant legislation, including the UK GDPR.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to simplify and effectively communicate applicable legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Critical Problem Solving: Critical problem-solving ability.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to challenge at all levels.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build relationships with other Business Units.
  • Report Writing and Presentation: Strong report writing and presentation skills.
