Highway Maintenance Delivery Specialist

National Highways is seeking a dedicated Highway Maintenance Delivery Specialist to contribute to the seamless operation of our vital road network in the Southwest region.

This role, based at either our Bristol or Exeter office, offers a dynamic blend of on-site visits, collaborative office work, and remote flexibility. You'll play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient delivery of highway maintenance projects across a significant stretch of our network, encompassing motorways and major A-roads.

Your Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers to develop comprehensive cyclical maintenance and repair plans, aligning with strategic objectives, budgetary constraints, and service level agreements.
  • Monitor the performance of our contracted suppliers, ensuring they consistently meet agreed-upon standards for delivery, quality, and safety.
  • Effectively manage and track planned works, including instructing variations and overseeing associated costs.
  • Provide support in controlling and approving routine maintenance and minor capital expenditures, adhering to established approval processes and escalation procedures.
  • Proactively analyze service delivery performance, working closely with diverse teams across the region, such as Highway Inspectors, Traffic Officers, and Planning & Development specialists.
  • Engage directly with customers, addressing their inquiries and concerns in a timely and customer-centric manner.
  • Ensure our suppliers consistently meet contractual service level agreements, technical specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. Investigate any breaches of these agreements and implement corrective actions.
Your Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
  • A solid background in the highways sector, encompassing relevant technical, maintenance, and design expertise.
  • Exceptional planning and project delivery skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities, including effective communication with suppliers, partners, and customers.
  • A recognized academic qualification in an Engineering discipline.
