About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Pertemps Newcastle. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN), providing tailored assistance to meet their specific learning requirements.
  • Lead small group activities to help students stay on task and complete assigned activities.
  • Assist in the implementation of lesson plans, working with the teacher to set learning objectives and support testing/assessments.
  • Monitor student progress, ensuring that any concerns are communicated effectively with the teaching team.
  • Help students develop key skills for future success, including preparing for apprenticeships or further education.
Requirements
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (minimum requirement).
  • Experience working with SEN students, including those with EHCPs, language difficulties, or other complex needs.
  • A solid understanding of the statutory requirements for safeguarding, SEN support, and health and safety within a school or college environment.
  • Effective behaviour management skills, particularly in working with students who may present challenging behaviours due to their experiences or learning difficulties.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
