About the Role
The Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Service is a key component of the Education Academy within Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Simulation and Clinical Skills Specialist Lead, you will play a crucial role in providing facilities and educational opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees across the trust.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate clinical education programs that encompass essential clinical skills, high-fidelity simulation, haptic skills training, human factors, communication skills, and patient safety training.
- Support the trust's long-term strategy to embed a culture of patient safety and human factors awareness through all educational programs.
- Promote and support an active and responsive approach to training and development across the trust through clinical, human factors, and communication skills, and simulation-based learning initiatives.
About the Team
You will work closely with the wider Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills team, which includes medical leads, clinical skills tutors, and education academy fellows. As a Simulation and Clinical Skills Specialist Lead, you will be responsible for managing a budget and delivering education on a large scale.

Person Specification
- Current and extensive knowledge of acute hospital practice.
- Ability to discuss knowledgeably current and proposed developments in education and healthcare.
- Demonstrates a vision for the future using the simulator for inter-professional training.
- Ability to discuss managing simulation team.
- Effectively manage a budget.
- Previous experience in delivering education on a large scale.
- Evidence of post-basic continuing professional development.
- Computer literacy: Windows 7, Excel, experience of using simulation software and AV technology.
- Registered Nurse/ODP.
- Post-basic qualification.
- Master's degree or willingness to work towards.
