Job Summary:
CBSButler is seeking a highly experienced Commercial Lead to join our team in a senior commercial role on major capital projects. As a Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the client's Project Director with the front-end development process, interrogating and analyzing the EPCM contractors' cost, commercial, and contract submissions, and providing cost input to the client project team and business support functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the client's Project Director: Assist with the front-end development process, including knowledge of FEL gates.
- Commercial Analysis: Analyze the EPCM contractors' cost, commercial, and contract submissions, and compare costs with internal and/or external benchmarks to ensure value for money.
- Cost Challenge: Challenge client and contractor costs, providing a clear basis for the challenge.
- Cost Review: Review cost elements, including people costs, EPCM contractor costs, major equipment costs, bulk materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Change Management: Provide cost or commercial input to change management, ensuring the change management process is followed by all parties.
- Contract Review: Review cost and commercial submissions from the contractor, providing advice and guidance to the client.
- Leadership: Lead cost reviews and meetings with the contractor on behalf of the client.
- Business Support: Provide cost input to the client project team and business support functions, including finance.
- Contract Knowledge: Have pre-contract and post-contract knowledge, including the IChemE form of contract.
Requirements:
- Discipline Knowledge: Civil, Mechanical, pipework, electrical, instrumentation, access, insulation, painting within the Industrial sector (power, chemical, oil, gas, etc).
- Experience: 10 years plus, including >5 years in a senior commercial role on major capital projects (several hundred million to over billion pounds).
- Contract Experience: Must have experience of major EPC or EPCM contracts, either client or contractor.
- Contract Knowledge: Ideally have working knowledge of the ICHEME form of contract.
- Commercial Background: Strong commercial background, ideally client-side.
