Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Mile End Early Diagnostic Centre (MEEDC). As a key member of our endoscopy team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.

Main Responsibilities

As a Nursing Assistant, you will assist registered nurses in providing nursing care for endoscopy patients, demonstrating our department's philosophy of care, and respecting patient confidentiality. You will work under the supervision of the registered nurse with continuing responsibility for the department and as part of the MEEDC endoscopy team. Additionally, you will work as part of the decontamination team on a rotational basis, working on the clean and dirty side of the MEEDC unit, RLH, and at St Barts.

Requirements
  • General Education to include English (written and oral) and basic Maths. GCSE (2 grades A-C) or equivalent.
  • Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm towards teaching and sharing knowledge.
  • Relevant endoscopy study days completed.
  • Current NHS online decontamination training certificates in relevant endoscopy modules.
  • Work experience to include dealing with people on a regular basis.
  • Experience in a caring role.
  • Experience of caring for patients.
  • Experience in caring for patient's relatives, family members, and public.
  • Expert knowledge of dealing with broken equipment and liaising with clinical engineering/companies to facilitate minimal downtime.
  • Expert knowledge of cold disinfection/decontamination of endoscopic equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of different types of endoscopes and equipment.
  • NHS Supplies processes.
  • Expert knowledge of Automated Endoscope reprocessors.
