Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our Specialist Eating Disorders Unit at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing clinical leadership and management of the ward, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and promoting a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of individuals with complex eating disorders, developing and implementing personalized care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Provide specialist nursing advice and support, taking the lead in delivering therapeutic group work programs and administering medication in accordance with Trust procedures and NMC guidelines.
- Ensure the safe management of patients, supervising them within the hospital, grounds, and community, and providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward.
- Assess and manage ongoing risks, regularly reviewing and updating risk factors to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Participate in the on-site Duty Nurse Manager rota, providing senior managerial and clinical advice, guidance, and support to colleagues.
- Maintain an up-to-date level of professional competence, attending meetings, multi-disciplinary ward reviews, and case conferences as necessary.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
- Post-registration experience and/or evidence of formal courses and training at postgraduate level.
- Significant demonstrable post-qualification experience at Band 5 working in a mental health or specialist in-patient setting.
- Experience of developing, delivering, and evaluating specialist programs of care and risk management plans.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact, and negotiation skills.
