About the Role

Merrifield Consultants is partnering with Cherry Trees, a charity providing home-from-home care for children with complex disabilities and a meaningful break for their families across Surrey and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking an experienced Community and Events Fundraising Officer to join their small but growing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a successful community and events fundraising programme.
  • Build reach and engagement across a range of events and fundraising activities.
  • Understand and comply with fundraising regulations, health and safety requirements, and general laws.
  • Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on effective storytelling.
  • Market events, including understanding tools, systems, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience with CRM systems and data analysis to provide insights and guidance.
About the Charity

Cherry Trees provides a lifeline for families through its home-from-home care for children with complex disabilities and its wrap-around support for the family.

The charity supports 70 children from 63 families through 52,750 hours of care, including 1,551 sleepovers and 633 day visits.

They also run activity days, host parent/carer wellbeing days, and provide small but vital financial grants through their Welfare Fund.

What We Offer

This pivotal role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact and grow the charity's range of products that engage with existing and potential supporters.

The existing programme includes events, challenge events, partnerships with corporates, community groups, and individuals, and Collection Tins Champions and Celebration Giving products.

The current programme will see the charity engage with more than 1,400 individuals and organisations and raise £350k, with huge potential to grow both engagement and income.

Requirements
  • Experience of planning and delivering a successful community and events fundraising programme.
  • Proven experience of building reach and engagement across a range of events or other fundraising activities.
  • Understanding of fundraising regulations, health and safety requirements, and general laws.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on effective storytelling.
  • Event marketing experience, including understanding of tools, systems, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience of using a CRM and the importance of using this data to provide insights and guidance.
