About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Editor to join our dynamic team at Penguin Books Limited. As an Editor, you will play a crucial role in managing the publishing process for our UK-originated titles, from acquisition to finished product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project manage acquired titles through the whole publishing process, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality output.
  • Draft cover copy, brief jackets, and create production schedules, working closely with freelancers and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with authors, agents, and other stakeholders, providing exceptional author care and support.
  • Collaborate with the senior commissioning team to identify and acquire new titles, aligning with our publishing strategy and goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, audience needs, and market developments, applying this knowledge to inform editorial decisions and content development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project managing UK-originated books through the whole publishing process, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality output.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and budgets effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent proofreading skills and a keen eye for error.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with authors, agents, and other stakeholders.
  • Passion for the non-fiction genres published by our Self hub, with a keen interest in audience needs and trends.
