Senior Estimator - Residential Projects

Main Contractor

Location: NW London - Hybrid Work Model

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 plus benefits

CSC Recruitment is on the lookout for experienced Estimators with a background in main contracting, specifically in the realm of high-end residential projects. We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Estimator to contribute to our vibrant team, concentrating on luxury residential developments. In this pivotal role, you will be integral to our pre-construction efforts, ensuring precise cost evaluations, risk assessments, and value engineering to deliver exceptional residential projects that align with our clients' stringent expectations.

Our client, a well-established family-run business in North West London, offers a hybrid working arrangement (1-2 days remote). With nearly three decades of industry presence, they are committed to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

  • Generate comprehensive and precise cost estimates for luxury residential projects, covering labor, materials, equipment, and overheads.
  • Examine architectural plans, specifications, and related documents to formulate detailed cost estimates.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure all project components are accounted for.

Tender Preparation and Submission:

  • Create tender documentation, including bills of quantities, scope of work, and pricing schedules.
  • Ensure timely submission of tenders, adhering to all client specifications and industry standards.
  • Engage in tender evaluations and post-tender discussions to secure contracts.

Supplier and Subcontractor Management:

  • Identify and assess suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they meet the quality and performance criteria necessary for luxury residential projects.
  • Request and evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing, and foster strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Cost Control and Monitoring:

  • Assist in formulating project budgets and track costs against the budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Recognize cost discrepancies and suggest corrective measures to maintain project profitability.
  • Work with the project team to effectively manage change orders and variations.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to project scope and devise mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments to gather essential information for accurate estimating.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain meticulous records of all estimates, tenders, and cost management activities.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key metrics, cost trends, and project financial status.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator, ideally within the luxury residential construction sector.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong grasp of construction methodologies, materials, and building regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a sharp attention to detail.
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
