Key Responsibilities- Estimating Team Leadership: Oversee and grow an estimating team in collaboration with regional managers and the Senior Manager of Estimating.
- Estimate Development: Lead the strategy and development of detailed estimates for all design stages: conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
- Trade Bid Management: Analyze construction documents and project requirements to determine the best competitive approaches.
- General Conditions Estimates: Assemble general conditions estimates for review by senior leadership.
- Trade Bid Packages: Develop trade bid packages and strategies to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Subcontractor and Material Pricing: Evaluate and compile subcontractor and material pricing for all trade disciplines.
- Trade Coverage: Ensure adequate trade coverage ahead of tender closings and budget presentations.
- Project Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of past projects and bids for historical analysis and KPI tracking.
- Multi-Trade Takeoffs: Perform multi-trade takeoffs and measurements.
- Tender Schedules: Coordinate with Operations to produce tender schedules.
- RFP Responses: Prepare detailed RFP responses in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Estimating and the Preconstruction Team.
- Estimating Staff Development: Provide coaching and mentorship to junior and intermediate estimating staff.
- Trade Bid and Contract Management: Manage the procurement of trade bids and contracts.
- Change Order Management: Assist in pricing and coordinating complex Change Orders, providing support to site management when necessary.
- Trade Scope Review and Negotiation: Lead trade scope review and negotiation meetings with senior leadership and the Operations team.
- Client Engagements: Travel within Ontario for job site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client engagements.
- Subcontractor Qualification: Seek out and qualify new subcontractors.
- Education: Relevant diploma or degree.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressively relevant experience in building construction estimating.
- Estimating Skills: Proven ability to successfully estimate and secure profitable projects ranging up to $70,000,000+.
- Design-Build and Construction Management: Significant knowledge and experience in design-build and construction management methodologies.
- Trade Scope Development: Ability to create detailed, project-specific trade scopes of work.
- Industry Experience: Experience across various industries, including Manufacturing, Industrial, Institutional, Multi-Unit Residential, Healthcare, and Commercial, is an asset.
