About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, supporting the delivery of operational excellence within the National Probation Service (NPS) Local Delivery Unit (LDU).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support to the Head of Cluster, including caseload segmentation, recall, and high-risk of serious harm case transfers.
  • Support the development and deployment of the Cluster Training Needs Analysis.
  • Act as cluster lead for performance and quality, ensuring compliance with Probation Instruction criteria and rules.
  • Manage the Business Manager and administrative support functions within the cluster.
  • Represent the NPS in local strategic partnerships and ensure appropriate representation within wider partnership frameworks.
  • Participate in Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and chair MAPPA level 3 meetings.
  • Make decisions and provide advice on the management of offenders in the absence of the Head of LDU Cluster.
Requirements
  • Significant experience at middle manager level, including the management of staff.
  • Experience of monitoring performance against predetermined targets and effecting necessary improvements.
  • Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice.
