Position Overview

As a Hazards Engineer, you will be instrumental in maintaining the safety and reliability of nuclear installations by developing and refining Hazard Verification Studies. Your primary duties will encompass:

  • Updating Hazard Verification Studies utilizing applicable technical methodologies for both Internal and External Hazards associated with structures.
  • Creating simplified design calculation assumptions and outlining potential scenarios for each identified threat.
  • Evaluating equipment at risk and analyzing the potential impacts.
  • Conducting assessments on functional redundancies that may be influenced by hazards.
  • Overseeing technical aspects related to the safety requirements for hazards in building and system design.
  • Providing technical support during the design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with safety functional requirements.
  • Engaging in discipline discussions regarding hazards, nuclear safety, radiation protection, and environmental considerations.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally with a focus on safety.
  • Understanding of safety requirement implementation and hazard analysis, preferably within a highly regulated sector.
  • Experience with Nuclear Safety Assessment Principles and their practical application.
  • Background in systems engineering, layout design, and piping.
  • Proficiency in PDMS and Navisworks software.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and possessing strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to perform under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
