We are looking for professionals to join our global organization, recognized in the UK as a leading provider of professional services. This role involves being part of a Midlands-based Building Energy Performance team, which encompasses a diverse range of specialists in Building Physics, Energy Performance, Net Zero Carbon, Building Fabric, and Building Services Engineering, delivering a wide array of services to both public and private sectors.

The ideal candidate will possess commercial acumen, manage multiple projects and diverse workloads, maintain client relationships, and demonstrate strong technical knowledge. A background in a core professional service discipline, such as architecture or building services engineering, with a focus on sustainability, is highly desirable.

This position requires client-facing interactions and active involvement in the daily design of projects, collaborating closely with the existing management structure within the Midlands business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to local business development initiatives within AtkinsRéalis.
  • Understand project briefs and deliver a variety of service scopes.
  • Engage with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to foster business growth.
  • Take ownership of project opportunities, providing strategic and specific input into bids and proposals.
  • Prepare fee proposals for potential clients, accurately estimating pricing and crafting successful responses across various expertise areas.
  • Implement quality assurance systems and manage documentation in accordance with current policies.
  • Monitor and report on capital and fee expenditures.
  • Lead complex, high-value projects from a Building Energy Performance perspective.
  • Develop client strategies for site and estate-wide decarbonization.
  • Conduct detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools.
  • Prepare technical specifications and design drawings.
  • Collaborate with AtkinsRéalis' Global Technology Centre to enhance building services projects.
  • Represent AtkinsRéalis in meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and monitor construction activities.
  • Write reports and technical notes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and archives in line with company standards.
  • Adhere to all quality, environmental, and governance processes.
  • Manage personal and team workloads, regularly updating project plans.
  • Oversee project delivery elements and understand budgetary constraints.
  • Review project progress, reporting any discrepancies or changes in scope.
  • Assist in the technical development of junior staff.
  • Identify, manage, and document business opportunities.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of project appointments.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant fields.
  • Hold sustainability, energy, or carbon-related qualifications/accreditations.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with CIBSE or IET.
  • Effective team player, contributing to collective objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
  • Familiarity with common contract forms such as NEC and JCT.
  • Awareness of key legislation, regulations, and industry standards pertinent to Building Services.
  • Proficient in a range of digital tools and energy reduction methodologies.
  • Knowledge of energy and carbon data capture and analytics.
  • Understanding of building physics principles, including passive design solutions.
  • Experience in design consultancy or contractor design environments is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage personal project deliverables and make informed decisions on design elements.
  • Strong report writing skills and experience presenting to clients.
  • Comfortable operating within agreed time and cost budgets.
