Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team at Randstad UK Holding. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed scopes from drawings, specifications, and PCDs, identifying errors and omissions, and preparing abstracts of material and subcontract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of detailed scopes from drawings, specifications, and PCDs
  • Identification of errors and omissions from the scope
  • Preparation of abstracts of material and subcontract requirements
  • Technical and commercial appraisal of material and subcontractor quotations
  • Preparation of analytical estimates
  • Contribution to the identification of risk and pricing of risks
  • Attendance at site visits as required
  • Contribution to the preparation of the M&E 'Tender Book'
  • Preparation of Top-Down-Estimate using the Framework
Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering-related discipline
  • Experience working as a Mechanical Estimator for a major mechanical/electrical contractor in the water sector
  • Experience in pricing medium to large value mechanical (and electrical ideally) engineering projects
  • Previous experience in wastewater/sewerage treatment and process engineering
  • Familiarity with Civil Engineering Method of Measurement
  • Commercial awareness and a lateral thinking approach with knowledge of various Forms of Contract
  • Good technical understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and the ability to promote alternative solutions
  • Must be numerate, accurate, and self-checking
  • Knowledge of CCS 'Candy' Estimating system (training will be given)
  • Full driving licence
Desirable Skills:
  • Ambitious and dynamic personality
  • Experience of working on Water Industry construction projects, preferably with experience of large and complex deliveries
  • Commitment to Right first time
  • Previous experience in clean water (an advantage)
