About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team at Randstad UK Holding. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing detailed scopes, identifying errors and omissions, and preparing abstracts of material and subcontract requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed scopes from drawings, specifications, and PCDs
  • Identify errors and omissions from the scope
  • Prepare abstracts of material and subcontract requirements
  • Conduct technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations
  • Prepare analytical estimates and contribute to the identification of risk and pricing of risks
  • Attend site visits as required
  • Contribute to the preparation of the M&E 'Tender Book'
  • Prepare Top-Down-Estimates using the Framework
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering-related discipline
  • Experience working as a Mechanical Estimator for a major mechanical/electrical contractor in the water sector
  • Experience pricing medium to large value mechanical (and electrical ideally) engineering projects
  • Previous experience in wastewater/sewerage treatment and process engineering
  • Familiarity with Civil Engineering Method of Measurement
  • Commercial awareness and a lateral thinking approach
  • Good technical understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and the ability to promote alternative solutions
  • Must be numerate, accurate, and self-checking
  • Knowledge of CCS 'Candy' Estimating system (training will be provided)
  • Full driving license

  • Experience of working on Water Industry construction projects, preferably with experience of large and complex deliveries
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Previous experience in clean water would be an advantage
