Position Overview

Role Summary

We are seeking a Product Specifications Specialist to support the Technical department in fulfilling its administrative requirements and assisting in the management of customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the precise and timely execution of administrative tasks within the Technical department.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with retail customer systems.
  • Work independently to drive projects from concept approval to the successful launch of packaged food products.
  • Guarantee that products are launched on schedule while adhering to safety, quality, and legal labeling standards.

Specification & System Oversight

  • Manage specifications for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Meet customer system requirements effectively.
  • Verify that the Bill of Materials aligns with range documentation and that documentation corresponds with specifications.
  • Review customer systems for updates on Codes of Practice, ensuring content is current and shared with the account Technologist.
  • Complete Quality Attribute sheets and any other technical documentation as required by customers.
  • Assess artwork and packaging against approved copy, legal standards, and ingredient specifications, reporting any discrepancies.

Reporting Duties

  • Provide technical insights and support to the Commercial team.
  • Conduct analytical reporting on customer metrics.
  • Collect and disseminate quality assurance data to the broader organization.

Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Engage closely with account teams, Procurement, Production, and NPD, particularly regarding customer-facing elements such as pre-productions and specification approvals.
  • Assist with validation processes for home delivery.

Internal Technical Systems

  • Support the maintenance of robust and up-to-date technical and quality systems.
  • Participate in internal audits and traceability exercises.

Qualifications

  • Possess a good level of higher education or equivalent work experience.
  • Hold a valid driving license (not mandatory).
  • Exhibit a high level of IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • Have Food Safety Level 2 and HACCP Level 2 certifications.
  • Demonstrate strong administrative skills.
  • Bring previous experience in food processing or manufacturing, with an understanding of food tolerances and allergen control.
  • Familiarity with M&S FIND Specification system is advantageous.
