The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Communications and Project Manager for Higher Education. This exciting opportunity will involve overseeing initiatives for post-16 and undergraduate audiences, working closely with the Gatsby Plant Science Education Programme team and external consultants to design and deliver ambitious student engagement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new resources for the Plant Science Futures website to enthuse post-16 audiences across the UK with plant biology
  • Liaise with plant scientists and organisations to develop careers materials reflecting the breadth of opportunities in plant science
  • Establish new networks and partnerships to further the programme's goals
  • Support the coordination of the prestigious Gatsby Plant Science summer schools for undergraduates, including development, delivery, and evaluation
  • Support alumni of the summer schools with a strategic programme of communications and career-enhancing opportunities, including online events
  • Oversee the promotion, facilitation, and evaluation of careers engagement via social media channels aimed at 16-19 year olds in the UK
  • Capture the short and long-term impacts of all activities, enabling strategic response to changing audience needs and informing future programme activities
Requirements
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent level of professional experience) in a plant science discipline
  • Proven ability to communicate to audiences via conventional, online, and social media platforms
  • Experience of running education and engagement events in a professional environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK Higher Education system
  • An interest in plant science education
