About the Programme

The Gatsby Plant Science Education Programme (GPSEP) is a pioneering initiative that delivers a diverse range of online and in-person engagement activities to inspire and nurture the next generation of plant scientists.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Communications and Project Manager to join our team and oversee initiatives for post-16 and undergraduate audiences. This exciting role would suit a plant science professional with a passion for education and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new resources for the Plant Science Futures website to enthuse post-16 audiences with plant biology
  • Liaise with plant scientists and organisations to develop careers materials reflecting the breadth of opportunities in plant science
  • Establish new networks and partnerships to further the programme's goals
  • Support the coordination of the prestigious Gatsby Plant Science summer schools for undergraduates
  • Support alumni of the summer schools with a strategic programme of communications and career-enhancing opportunities
  • Oversee the promotion, facilitation, and evaluation of careers engagement via social media channels aimed at 16-19 year olds in the UK
Requirements
  • Degree-level education in a plant science discipline or equivalent level of professional experience
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences via conventional, online, and social media platforms
  • Experience of running education and engagement events in a professional environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK Higher Education system
  • An interest in plant science education
