Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a supportive secondary school in Dagenham. This is a full-time role, starting on a temporary basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent position.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students in the classroom, providing tailored support to ensure they can engage with the curriculum and succeed academically. You will also work within the Neurodiversity Hub, offering targeted interventions and personalised assistance to students with neurodiverse conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide classroom support across various subjects to help students engage with learning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt learning materials and strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Offer one-on-one support in the Neurodiversity Hub, providing targeted interventions for students with conditions such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, offering feedback to teachers, staff, and parents as required.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Support students in developing self-management and social skills.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • Understanding of neurodiversity and experience supporting students with special educational needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia).
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a flexible, proactive approach.
  • A passion for supporting young people in their educational journeys.
