About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as Headteacher of a new special education school in Derby. As part of our growth strategy, we are thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new Primary and Secondary Special Education School in Derby, set to open in early 2025.

The school will cater to 72 students aged 5-19, with a primary diagnosis of ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and ADHD. We are committed to creating a calm, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment that empowers every student to achieve their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to create a successful and high-performing school that aligns with our values.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a curriculum tailored to the needs of our student cohort.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing team to secure the success of the school.
  • Ensure the school meets the highest standards of education and care, in line with our vision and values.
  • Engage with parents, the local community, and external agencies to create a supportive and collaborative environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a further professional qualification in a relevant area.
  • Proven experience as a Headteacher within a specialist school environment.
  • Knowledge of DfE Guidance, including Independent Schools Standards (ISS).
  • Understanding of SLD and ASD, with up-to-date knowledge of related issues.
  • Knowledge of government initiatives, local and national legislation relevant to the role.
  • Quality assurance experience, including lesson observations and performance management.
  • Strong, effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
