About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as Headteacher of our new SEN school in Derby. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our school and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a curriculum tailored to the needs of our student cohort, ensuring high academic standards and excellent pastoral care.
  • Build and nurture a high-performing team of educators and support staff, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure the success of the school.
  • Ensure the school meets the highest standards of education and care, in line with our vision and values, through effective operational management and quality assurance.
  • Engage with parents, the local community, and external agencies to create a supportive and collaborative environment, promoting the school's values and mission.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a further professional qualification in a relevant area, with a Headteacher qualification (such as NPQH/SNLP) or a willingness to gain such a qualification.
  • Proven experience as a Headteacher within a specialist school environment, with a strong track record of leadership and management.
  • Knowledge of DfE Guidance, including Independent Schools Standards (ISS), and up-to-date knowledge of related issues.
  • Understanding of SLD and ASD, with the ability to develop and implement strategies to support students with these needs.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and manage a team, and exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Our new SEN school in Derby will cater to 72 students aged 5-19, with a primary diagnosis of ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and ADHD.
