About The MTC

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is a world-renowned research and development organisation, bridging the gap between academia and industry. We are a collaborative environment where engineers, scientists, and technicians work together to develop and demonstrate new technologies on an industrial scale.

We help manufacturers of all sizes develop new and innovative processes and technologies, working across various sectors including automotive, aerospace, rail, informatics, food and drink, infrastructure, construction, and civil engineering.

As a Programme Manager, you will lead and manage the successful delivery of collaborative R&D projects, working across various technology themes and industry sectors. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Capturing and understanding consortium needs to effectively build project bids
  • Liaising with resource owners and team leaders to ensure effective use of resources
  • Managing project scope changes through a recognised change request process
  • Acting as a champion for MTC's project management processes and tools
  • Contributing to internal continuous improvement activities related to project management tools and processes

Person Specification

We are looking for a strong leader with significant experience in a busy projects-based environment. You will have experience of working on government-funded collaborative research and development projects, as well as experience with Microsoft project management tools.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • A strong leader with significant experience in a busy projects-based environment
  • Experience of working on government-funded collaborative research and development projects
  • Experience with Microsoft project management tools, including MS Project and Excel
  • Numerate with a strong focus on financial management
  • Ability to identify resource requirements and negotiate availability with resource owners and team leaders

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a natural investigator with strong analytical skills, able to identify and solve complex problems. You will have a results-driven approach, with a positive can-do attitude and a focus on solutions rather than problems.

Key desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience and a working understanding of delivering projects in an engineering or professional services environment
  • An organised and flexible approach, with the ability to influence and deliver through others
  • Demonstrable knowledge of PMP and PMO
  • Results-driven self-starter with a positive can-do approach
