Senior Structural Design Engineer

RPS Group is actively seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to enhance our Structures Team. About Our Design Division: The RPS Design Division undertakes projects across a variety of specialized sectors, including residential developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centers, and energy. We aim to achieve an optimal balance between aesthetics and functionality while addressing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability challenges. Digitalization is integral to our delivery model, enabling clients and stakeholders to engage with our designs from the initial concept stage. With decades of expertise across multiple industries and disciplines, we assist clients in harmonizing design objectives through innovative engineering, architecture, and development services. Key Responsibilities: This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to advance their career as a Senior Structural Engineer within our esteemed team, known for its extensive expertise across all sectors of the built environment. Responsibilities Include: Supporting the Associate Director / Director in managing the structural engineering team Independently overseeing projects and project teams Holding financial accountability for assigned projects Preparing fee proposals and managing invoicing Coordinating with staff and external consultants Developing the engineering and technician team further Collaborating with senior stakeholders and clients Conducting site visits and performing structural surveys, investigations, and repair assessments for various structural issues Ideal Candidate Profile: To excel in this position, candidates should possess a degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering and ideally be working towards or have achieved chartership with ICE, IStructE, or a similar body. Additional Qualifications: Proficient in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, and detailing for steel and timber structures according to Eurocodes Experienced in the residential sector, including traditional and framed construction Demonstrated commercial awareness with knowledge in project financial management and client development Experienced in structural investigations for low-rise residential and medium-rise commercial properties Preferably knowledgeable in structural investigation and reporting related to the 'Building Safety Act' Familiarity with Tekla software (Tekla Designer and Tedds) and ideally AutoCAD/Revit Strong leadership abilities to establish authority and influence both internally and externally Previous management experience is advantageous Decision-making capabilities Self-motivated with initiative and a drive for innovation Benefits: We are an accredited training provider, offering professional qualifications in leadership and management, as well as executive coaching and mentoring.
