Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom The Children's Society Full time

Youth Emotional Wellbeing Service Manager

This is a permanent role with a focus on leading initiatives aimed at enhancing the emotional health of young individuals.

Salary: £38,390.76 per annum

Our Mission: We are dedicated to creating a supportive environment for young people, allowing them to prioritize their emotional wellbeing.

The service operates during various hours to accommodate the needs of the community, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility and prior agreement will be ensured for any such arrangements.

Role Overview: Are you passionate about supporting a team that addresses the emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges faced by children and young people?

The successful candidate will oversee the service, ensuring effective risk management and the ability to navigate challenging circumstances. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including health services, law enforcement, and social care, is essential.

We aim to provide accessible drop-in sessions where young individuals can engage with trained professionals one-on-one, allowing them to discuss their challenges without the burden of waiting lists. Building relationships swiftly, identifying risks, and facilitating further support are critical components of this role.

In addition to drop-in support, structured one-on-one sessions will be available for those who require more focused assistance.

Key Skills Required:

  • Creative problem-solving abilities to address new and complex situations.
  • Extensive experience in leadership and management across diverse settings.
  • Initiative and capability to supervise and coordinate team efforts.
  • Proficient negotiation skills.
  • Competence in utilizing IT applications.
  • Ability to apply therapeutic models effectively.
  • Experience in coordinating work schedules, including on-call duties.

Knowledge Base:

  • Strong understanding of the mental and emotional health challenges faced by children and young people, supported by current research.
  • Clinical insight into mental health pathways within relevant services.
  • Awareness of barriers faced by marginalized youth in accessing early help and crisis support.
  • Familiarity with local mental health support organizations.

Qualifications:

  • A qualification in leadership or management.
  • A relevant professional qualification in health, social care, or youth work.

The Children's Society operates numerous local services that assist countless young individuals in need of support, while also advocating for policy changes to improve their lives.

We are committed to fostering a diverse workforce and encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.

Commitment to Safeguarding: The Children's Society prioritizes the safety and protection of the children and young people we serve. All positions are subject to a rigorous recruitment process, including background checks and vetting procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Application Process: Candidates applying for roles within our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete a specific employment history document prior to the interview stage.
