Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in Birmingham, where we provide specialist services to approximately 24,000 people with learning disabilities.
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust offers high-quality, accessible, and responsive community and specialist services across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Our team delivers over 100 clinical services, both in patients' homes and in over 300 hospitals, health centers, and clinics.
- Supervise psychiatric medical staff working within the Learning Disability Service.
- Develop and deliver educational initiatives to enhance the skills of the Local Multidisciplinary team and the wider Learning Disability Service.
- Collaborate with neurology and other health services to facilitate access to services that provide the most suitable care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Ensure seamless communication with other community mental health services to optimize psychiatric services for service users.
- Liaise with children's services to optimize the transition of children into adult services.
- Adhere to all Trust policies, including Equal Opportunities policies, and promote equality of access to healthcare at all times.
- Participate in the consultant out-of-hours on-call rota and reciprocal cover arrangements for annual and study leave.
- Utilize electronic patient records systems to maintain clinical records, clinical coding, outcomes, and activity.
- GCSE English & Maths or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to demonstrate significant administrative and office experience.
- Relevant Higher Degree, e.g., MD, PhD, MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications.
- Additional experience in neurodevelopmental disorders, psychological therapies, liaison.
- Experience in the UK working at consultant level in specialist services for people with intellectual disabilities.
- Recognized basic medical degree.
- Evidence of effective multidisciplinary team involvement and experience.
