Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Learning Disabilities team at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and support psychiatric medical staff working within the Learning Disability Service.
- Develop and deliver educational initiatives to enhance the skills of the multidisciplinary team and the wider Learning Disability Service.
- Collaborate with neurology and other health services to ensure seamless access to services for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Interface with community mental health services to optimize psychiatric care for service users.
- Liaise with children's services to facilitate smooth transitions into adult services.
- Adhere to Trust policies, including Equal Opportunities policies, and promote equality of access to healthcare.
- Participate in the consultant on-call rota and reciprocal cover arrangements.
- Utilize electronic patient records to maintain accurate clinical records and coding.
- Essential:
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Significant administrative and office experience.
- Desirable:
- Relevant higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MSc) or additional clinical qualifications.
- Experience in neurodevelopmental disorders, psychological therapies, or liaison.
- UK experience working at consultant level in specialist services for people with intellectual disability.
