About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level Crossing Supervisor to join our team at Colas Rail UK. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising work groups, ensuring the safe and efficient installation of level crossings and signaling systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in railway infrastructure, with experience in the installation and testing of level crossings, including object detection systems. You will also have proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate staff to achieve high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise signaling teams to ensure compliance with best practices, Network and Company Standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety integrity of all activities undertaken by the staff you are responsible for.
  • Manage installation costs against budgets and maintain robust records to support this.
  • Organize, manage, and develop a first-class signaling and level crossing installation team, maintaining suitable hard copy and soft copy records for regular audit.
  • Allocate installation resources to projects, both internal and external, to deliver required skills and keep the team utilization on or above target.
  • Deliver activities within agreed timelines, according to the agreed quality and in line with all safety rules, principles, and IRSE licensing requirements.
Requirements
  • Hold or working towards Engineering Manager (Installation) IRSE License.
  • Hold or be able to hold SMTH & G110 (Tester & Author Checker).
  • Hold PTS, COSS/IWA track safety competencies.
  • Hold SMTH Competency.
  • Experience in the installation and testing of level crossings, ideally including object detection systems.
  • Proven experience of team leadership and influencing staff.
  • Previous experience of Signaling & Telecoms installation and construction activities with a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail standards.
  • Proven experience of delivering to budgets and timescales.
  • Understanding of other related rail disciplines and interface management.
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting, profit, and loss, and reporting.
