Job Title: Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at Catch22 College in Maidstone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in achieving their academic goals by providing individualized assistance and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment.
  • Assist with behavioral and special needs issues, providing a safe and inclusive space for students to learn.
  • Deliver SEN interventions and support students with complex needs.
  • Provide feedback to students on their progress, promoting self-awareness and self-improvement.
  • Supervise students during breaks and lunchtimes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner files and records.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements for health and safety, SEN, and safeguarding of children.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students and teachers.
  • Effective behavior management strategies and experience working with challenging students.
  • Experience in planning and delivering teaching activities, including Individual Education Plans.
  • Experience working with students with Education Health Care Plans and Special Education Needs.
  • Determination to raise student achievement and cope with emotionally demanding situations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant in an alternative provision environment.
  • Understanding of curriculum, particularly literacy and numeracy requirements.
  • Evidence of successful work with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable students.
