Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced HR Director to lead our Business Partnering team, providing strategic people advice and guidance to support our 85,000 colleagues across 980 sites. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of current best practice people issues and experience of driving people aspects of technology-led business transformation in an organisation of scale and complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive people and business strategy in an organisation at the apex of change and transformation.
  • Provide visible and collaborative leadership within a complex organisation, building high-performing teams and growing confidence and capability.
  • Lead DWP's HR Business Partnering and HR Casework Services, advising and influencing across the Government People Group.
  • Drive, develop, and deliver local people strategies and plans, and end-to-end HR services to enable the transformation of the Department.
  • Advise on strategic workforce planning, TUPE, building capability, diversity, inclusion, talent management, and reward.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or prepared to work towards this.
  • Experience of working at a whole system level to develop approaches based on a deep understanding of customers and the levers to effect positive outcomes.
  • Strong evidence of successfully influencing and managing complex senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Extensive experience of providing visible and collaborative leadership within a complex organisation.

What We Offer:

Allen Lane is partnering exclusively with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to find a permanent HR Director for Business Partnering. This is an SCS2 grade role and an outstanding opportunity to work in the largest Civil Service Department that touches the lives of citizens across the UK.

The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared to Security Check (SC) level to undertake the role. Candidates who do not already have this level of clearance can have this undertaken post-appointment. In all cases, the appointment remains conditional on this level of security clearance.
