About the Role

We are seeking two enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Liaison Psychiatry team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and consultant input into the Adult Liaison Psychiatry team, working closely with our acute colleagues to provide holistic care for patients with mental health needs who are admitted to the hospital.

The team is funded for a total of 5.0 WTE consultants with doctors-in-training, a team of nurse practitioners and liaison psychology as part of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and consultant input into the Adult Liaison Psychiatry team
  • Work closely with acute colleagues to provide holistic care for patients with mental health needs
  • Develop a special interest in an area of the medical Trust (e.g. surgery, medicine, obstetrics) according to the areas of interest for the post-holder

Person Specification
  • Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
  • Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT at time of interview
  • CCT in general adult psychiatry
  • Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
