Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Support Worker to join our Whānau Support Services team in the Nelson area. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently, make informed decisions, and access community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities, including assistance with daily living tasks, budgeting, and meal preparation.
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual.
  • Facilitate access to community resources, including transportation, education, and employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support workers to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or support services setting, preferably with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals, families, and community members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet changing needs and priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
