Job Description:

Role Overview

Allen Speech & Language is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. As a Development Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, efficient, and effective speech and language therapy services to primary school students in the Croydon Borough.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Clinical Services:
    1. Manage your own caseload of students, with appropriate support from the Lead Speech and Language Therapist, in accordance with the service's models of care.
    2. Carry out clinical observations, informal and formal assessments of children, and analyze the results, reflecting on your own knowledge and experience, and seeking more specialist advice as required.
    3. Develop child-centered therapeutic intervention plans in association with the child's parents/carers and education staff.
    4. Develop appropriate progression measures and data collection.
    5. Monitor intervention outcomes and adapt the plan accordingly.
    6. Provide written and verbal reports for contribution to EHC Plans and annual reviews.
    7. Liaise with healthcare professionals for onward referrals.
  2. Training and Development:
    1. Collaborate with therapy colleagues and parents/carers to devise, deliver, and evaluate training courses for parents/carers/education staff, if required.
  3. Administration:
    1. Maintain clinical records and data collection procedures in line with service and data protection policies.
  4. Service Provision:
    1. Demonstrate knowledge of national legislation, local protocols, and professional guidance relevant to the speciality and advise colleagues accordingly.
    2. Contribute data or participate directly in a service development.
    3. Contribute to the development of SLT roles in collaboration with therapy colleagues and other professionals.
  5. Personal Professional Development:
    1. Actively engage with clinical supervision, demonstrating the ability to reflect on your own practice with peers and mentors, and identify your own strengths and development needs.
    2. Be competent and able in safe manual handling of students and young people in the context of speech, language, and communication therapy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong clinical skills and experience in speech and language therapy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
