About the Role

Gleeson Development Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a key member of our commercial function, you will play a crucial role in delivering our business objectives and driving commercial excellence across our development projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Leadership: Provide strategic commercial leadership and guidance to the commercial team, ensuring effective compliance, control, and deployment of quantity surveying services.
  • Development Budget Management: Manage development budgets and commercial controls, ensuring targets are achieved and commercial performance is optimized.
  • Quantity Surveying Function: Take responsibility for the quantity surveying function on at least one active key development, including sub-contract procurement, site meetings, and development CVRs.
  • Commercial Land Appraisal: Provide input into the commercial land appraisal process and subsequent site commencement programs, ensuring all known site and development costs and revenues are captured at each key development phase.
  • Supplier and Sub-Contractor Management: Liaise with build management and regional and central services buying and procurement teams to ensure the commercial team works to and delivers agreed actions and activity plans.
  • Material Quality and Performance: Monitor material quality and use, and the performance of suppliers and sub-contractors, providing feedback to the commercial director and direct to suppliers and sub-contractors as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Management Experience: A relevant qualification or good experience in commercial management, with a strong understanding of commercial implications of design and build methods and sequences.
  • Technical Knowledge: Broad finance/commercial awareness and technical knowledge, with a broad knowledge of the construction industry and codes of practice that impact on commercial matters.
  • Analytical and Interpersonal Skills: Strong analytical ability, with the ability to distil/mine data to identify key trends, issues, and value-add opportunities, and strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Business Acumen: Good business management acumen and highly commercially astute, with the ability to see and promote innovative ideas.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Ability and flexibility to travel to sites and central services essential.
