This school provides education for young people across South Somerset who are unable to access their mainstream school due to social and emotional reasons, medical or mental health reasons, or permanent exclusion. The school strives to ensure students are not disadvantaged and work tirelessly to ensure their academic outcomes and long-term life chances are not affected by attending a PRU for part of their education.
Key Responsibilities- Provide tailored support to students with SEN needs and/or disabilities, especially in SEMH.
- Have high expectations of children's progress, attainment, and behaviour.
- Use your own initiative to solve problems and work under pressure.
- Develop positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Work with challenging behaviours and attitudes, requiring emotional resilience.
- Experience of supporting children or adults with SEN needs and/or disabilities, especially in SEMH.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Good communication skills and patience.
- Organisation and resourcefulness, with good time management skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
Working hours are 08:30 - 16:00. There is opportunity for permanent employment for the right candidate. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ's on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
