About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Streetcare Operative – Grounds Maintenance Specialist, working for South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our front-line team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services across the county.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake routine maintenance operations, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, shrub border maintenance, and leaf clearance, using a variety of powered hand tools and mobile plant.
- Carry out winter maintenance operations, including heavy cut backs in public parks, open spaces, and woodland areas.
- Assist in minor landscaping works, such as planting bedding, shrubs, and trees.
- Undertake routine maintenance of the council's cycle route network using powered hand tools or mechanical equipment as needed.
- Collect fly tips and empty bins, ensuring a clean and safe environment for residents.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a gardening or grounds maintenance role, with the ability to operate commercial professional grounds equipment.
- A full UK driving licence, with experience of driving a long wheel-based transit (style) tipper.
- Ability to follow works instructions accurately, understand maps and plans, and complete records accurately.
- Core understanding of health and safety and the risks and hazards associated with the role.
