ROLE SUMMARY:
The Category Strategy Lead will spearhead the strategic direction and overall success of a designated product category within our organization. This position is pivotal in driving category performance, profitability, and market presence through effective commercial oversight and the execution of strategic initiatives. The individual will collaborate closely with various teams and senior management to ensure alignment with the overarching business goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Commercial Oversight
- Take ownership of category growth and performance metrics.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the category.
- Forge strong partnerships with sales and marketing teams to collaboratively develop and execute commercial strategies.
- Conduct regular commercial reviews to assess performance and implement necessary actions.
Market Development
- Formulate strategic plans for market entry and expansion across new channels.
- Identify opportunities to enhance distribution and market share with key customers.
- Ensure teams remain attuned to market trends, seizing opportunities while mitigating risks.
Product Management
- Act as a key advocate for the category, ensuring all necessary elements are in place for success.
- Oversee product portfolio management, including pricing strategies and SKU adjustments.
- Optimize product assortment and merchandising strategies to drive sales and enhance profitability.
- Implement effective promotional planning in response to market dynamics.
Financial Stewardship
- Develop and manage the category budget, encompassing sales forecasts and promotional expenditures.
- Analyze financial performance of the category, pinpointing areas for enhancement and executing corrective measures.
- Initiate cost-saving measures and strategies to improve profit margins.
Collaborative Engagement:
- Lead and engage with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, supply chain, and research and development.
- Ensure cohesive alignment across departments to achieve category objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Over 10 years of experience in category management or a related commercial role.
- Strong analytical capabilities with a strategic mindset to navigate complex challenges.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
- A proactive individual who excels in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and initiative.
