As a Telecommunications Field Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining Shell's offshore operations, ensuring the seamless delivery of energy to meet the UK's needs. Collaborating closely with IT teams, strategic telecom partners, and technical facility personnel, you will support and uphold essential telecom infrastructure while actively participating in the advancement and deployment of innovative telecom technologies to enhance connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Telecommunications Field Support Engineer, your primary goal will be to integrate engineering disciplines at Shell UK Exploration and Production (SUKEP) facilities while gaining valuable insights from seasoned engineers.
- Develop a comprehensive technical understanding of SUKEP's telecom and Operational Technology (OT) systems, facilitating system modifications, project deployments, and raising awareness of telecom and PCD Integrity requirements.
- Initially, alongside experienced engineers, engage in various technical tasks and assurance activities, adhering to established procedures within defined responsibilities.
- Collaborate with site personnel, project teams, and vendors to execute standard maintenance routines for Field Telecoms and PCD-I, while ensuring all information sources are current.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on topics related to Field Telecoms and PCD-I.
- Receive supervision to monitor skill development and results delivery, keeping team leaders informed of progress. As you gain experience, you may be expected to mentor less experienced colleagues.
We are interested in candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- Experience in Field Telecoms and industrial automation/control systems.
- Proficiency in safely handling legacy telecommunications and network equipment.
- Global Industrial Cybersecurity Professional (GICSP) certification.
- Ability to operate effectively without direct supervision in an offshore production setting.
- Experience collaborating with integrated service providers to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong familiarity with Windows operating systems.
- Background in cybersecurity.
- Quick learner with the ability to acquire new skills efficiently.
- Capable of building strong, productive relationships.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong work ethic and dedication to ensuring satisfaction.
- Experience working in potentially hazardous offshore environments, with valid offshore working and medical certifications.
- Competent Telecommunications Person (CTP) certification.
- Familiarity with permit to work processes and systems.
- COMPEX Hazardous Area Training certification.
