Job Title: Principal Engineer - Instrumentation and Telecommunications

Aker Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Instrumentation and Telecommunications to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our Life Cycle UK team, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers and designers to provide instrumentation, telecoms, and Safety Automation Systems engineering services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers to provide instrumentation, telecoms, and Safety Automation Systems engineering services.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders in the execution of project scopes.
  • Define scopes of work required to align with clients' requirements and provide input to budget estimates and planning to implement the scope.
  • Be innovative in identifying technical solutions.
  • Ensure team delivers work on schedule and within budget and in accordance with company procedures meeting the requirements of the project.
  • Active participate in HAZOP, FAT's, design reviews, and other relevant safety reviews.
  • Coordinate and manage instrument, F&G, and Telecommunications system packaged equipment.
Requirements:
  • HNC/HND level or University Instrument Engineering degree or relevant education with +10 experience in front-end studies, FEED, and/or EPCI projects from the energy sector.
  • Broad competency within instrumentation.
  • Experience in Telecoms and Safety Automation Systems preferred.
  • Experience in the international engineering standards associated with this role.
  • Experience in participation in HAZOP/HAZID and LOPA reviews.
  • Knowledge of relevant Norwegian regulations and NORSOK standards preferred but not essential.
  • Strong work ethics and a proactive attitude.
  • The ability to lead, manage, train, and mentor instrument discipline engineers.
  • A commercial mindset, good communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to see solutions together with meeting customer expectations and requirements.
  • Willing to work in a hybrid structure with regular visits to the primary office.
