About the Role

Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a critical role in driving our financial planning and reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial planning and budgeting processes to support business growth.
  • Manage financial transactions and processing systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, including outsourced processes.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to provide financial input on proposals and operations.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and in compliance with reporting standards and applicable regulatory legislation.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for risk management and mitigation, including evaluating insurance options and choosing suitable ones for the company.
  • Oversee financial due diligence process of acquisitions.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent).
  • Degree, or relevant professional qualifications, or equivalent ability demonstrated through experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law, accounting standards and risk management practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • Proven experience of financial forecasting.
  • An analytical mindset and comfort working with numbers.
  • The ability to accept and provide feedback, be challenged on your advice, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Fluent level of both spoken and written English.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Satellite & Space Communications, Defence or Government sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing departments and teams.
  • Knowledge of XERO.
