Role Overview

What does the role entail?

This position is designed to discover and report on Wrexham AFC while creating sports content aimed at reaching and engaging the largest possible audience across our regional and US sports platforms. Your responsibilities will include covering stories related to Wrexham AFC and trending sports topics that resonate with fans, ensuring our work is widely discovered and engaged with.

You will leverage the extensive global appeal of Wrexham AFC, including entertainment and financial narratives surrounding the club's Hollywood ownership, which attracts a diverse audience beyond traditional football fans. Additionally, you may serve as the public representative of our Wrexham coverage, both in front of the camera and behind the microphone as needed.

Candidate Profile

Who are we seeking?

  • NCTJ or equivalent journalism qualification with a solid understanding of media law
  • Comprehensive knowledge of football, Wrexham AFC, and the football league, with substantial experience covering a professional club
  • A fervor for digital storytelling within football journalism
  • Proven ability to identify and report on stories and issues that matter to football fans, ensuring broad engagement with our work
  • A personable individual capable of building relationships and asking insightful questions to uncover the best stories
  • A creative thinker who can consistently generate a flow of story ideas
  • Strong digital publishing skills, including experience with content management systems, video production, and photography
  • A full clean driving license is preferable
