Position Overview:

This newly created position within the Manchester Fashion Institute as a Fashion Technical Specialist is an exciting opportunity.

  • Engage with a skilled team dedicated to supporting students and staff in specialized environments, including studios and laboratories. Participate in diverse activities such as studio sessions, guidance, inductions, demonstrations, one-on-one interactions, group sessions, and open drop-ins.
  • Utilize your expertise in industry-standard garment construction methods and non-sew joining technologies, demonstrating a range of specialized industrial machinery to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Contribute your knowledge as a seasoned creative pattern cutter, developing blocks, patterns, and shapes for classes, workshops, fashion shows, and research-led projects.
  • Embrace digital creativity through Gerber digital pattern cutting software and CLO3D for virtual garment prototypes, while collaborating with staff and students to innovate sustainable solutions.
  • Promote a safe and healthy environment for all participants, adhering to best practices that encourage creativity and innovation.

Candidate Profile:

Do you possess relevant experience in a similar setting that showcases your enthusiasm for fashion? Are you skilled in garment construction, toiling, and pattern cutting, with the ability to digitally replicate these processes using fashion-related software? You should demonstrate a proactive and adaptable work ethic, being dependable, punctual, and motivated to pursue professional development opportunities. Your ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team will be essential in supporting research and enterprise initiatives, all while delivering exceptional customer service through proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
