We are seeking an experienced and skilled Emergency Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team at Darent Valley Hospital. As a key member of our Accident and Emergency Department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading a team of medical professionals, and contributing to the development of our emergency services.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage middle-grade associates, acute care common stem trainees, GP specialty trainees, and foundation year 2 trainees.
- Ensure the efficient reception, resuscitation, diagnosis, and management of all emergencies attending the department.
- Develop and implement effective care pathways, working closely with nursing, managerial, and medical colleagues.
- Participate in clinical audit, research, and teaching, promoting excellence in patient care and professional development.
- Contribute to the development of our emergency services, working closely with other trust departments and local CCGs.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A GMC-recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- On Specialist Register, or confirmed expectation within 6 months of appointment.
- Postgraduate diplomas in FRCEM or recognised equivalent, and MRCEM, MRCP (UK or Ireland), MRCS/FRCS or equivalent.
- Advanced competency in prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury.
- Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates, clinical audit, and leadership, organisational, communication, professional, and personal skills.
