Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our high-performing Accident and Emergency Department at Darent Valley Hospital. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of delivering high-quality patient care and will be able to demonstrate leadership and management skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including the efficient reception, resuscitation, diagnosis, and management of all emergencies attending the department.
  • Work closely with nursing, managerial, and medical colleagues to provide timely and effective healthcare to patients.
  • Supervise and manage middle-grade associates, acute care common stem trainees, GP specialty trainees, and foundation year 2 trainees.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participate in research, audit, and teaching activities.

Requirements
  • GMC-recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • On the Specialist Register, or confirmed expectation within 6 months of appointment.
  • Postgraduate diploma: FRCEM or recognised equivalent.
  • Postgraduate diploma: MRCEM, MRCP (UK or Ireland), MRCS/FRCS or equivalent.
