Geophysical Equipment Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Geophysical Equipment Technician to join our Geophysical Engineering Workshop Team. As a Geophysical Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance, assembly, calibration, and repair of geophysical equipment and instruments.

This is a hands-on role that requires a mechanical bias, but also involves testing and calibration of electronic equipment. The position provides a great opportunity for travel, supporting the mobilization of our vessels in and around various UK ports and occasionally further afield.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect geophysical instruments to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, refurbishing, and replacing worn-out parts and diagnose and repair faulty equipment.
  • Calibrate geophysical instruments to ensure precise measurements, maintaining detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
  • Operate a forklift truck and organize the warehouse and yard.
  • Assist in the mobilization of vessels away from base.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment in the workshop.

Your Qualities:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical or maintenance role.
  • Preferably with Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic system knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
