Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEMH school in Winchester. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil in KS3-KS4, providing individualized support to help them engage with their work and manage their behaviour.

About the Role:

The school's aim is to provide a tailored and specialist setting for children who cannot cope within a mainstream setting, allowing them to improve their education while focusing on their social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a pupil in KS3-KS4, providing individualized support to help them engage with their work and manage their behaviour.
  • Make regular notes throughout the day and meet with the teacher to update and amend the pupil's EHCP.
  • Develop good professional relationships and liaise with others to ensure the pupil's needs are met.

Requirements:

  • Hold a current and clear DBS or be happy to apply for one.
  • Excellent practitioners who strive to understand the students they are working with.
  • Able to take the initiative to develop good professional relationships and liaise with others.
  • Positive with enthusiasm for their role.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviours.
