About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapy Practitioner to join our dynamic Front of House Therapy Team at Poole Hospital, University Hospitals Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a specialist frailty Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) focused on admission avoidance within a fast-paced environment.

The RACE Unit at Poole Hospital has been nationally recognized for its seven-day care, admission avoidance strategies, and collaborative MDT approach. We pride ourselves on delivering patient-centered care through timely comprehensive assessments, interventions, and discharge planning.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough therapy assessments independently, utilizing objective assessment tools.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse patient group within the acute hospital setting.
  • Provide support and guidance to other therapy support staff.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of rehabilitation plans for patients.
  • Participate in weekend rotas as part of our 7-day working model.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Foundation Degree in health or assistant practitioner qualification equivalent, or another relevant qualification.
  • Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant or equivalent (e.g., Exercise Physiologist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy Assistant) involving direct patient care in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with adult patients with chronic disease or multiple pathologies.
  • Ability to assess patients using specific objective assessment tools and identify appropriate therapy interventions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • Empathy with older people and the ability to establish rapport.
  • A clean driving license.
